About
Richmond based contemporary abstract painter Sarah Elizabeth Morrison rediscovered her passion for painting when her two young children began elementary school. She is a classically trained dancer and spent over a decade teaching ballet to youth in central Virginia. Sarah received her BFA in Art History from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007.
Her love for dance sparks creativity for paintings with her fascination for creating light and movement on her canvases. Sarah draws inspiration from time spent in Italy, experiences from motherhood and her continued love of art history. Her works are named for women as they are all, in some measure, inspired by the strength, beauty and complexity of the female experience.
She works in many styles but is currently focusing on a fusion of Abstract Expressionism, Impressionism and Romanticism. With elements of the past and an essence of time gone by always woven in her work, she is most known for her large abstract floral works that speak to the classic soul and complement a modern aesthetic embodying a style that is above all contemporary, timeless and incredibly unique.
